Penny Authors Book Launch 4.9.2019

The Launch of Volume five of Penny Authors Anthology, The Book of Lived.

This was the first launch out of the five anthologies produced, the previous four have not presented suitable grounds to do so because of the transient state the Anthologies were in. This volume five was now ready to be launched as it had settled and firmed up its foundations.

So on Wednesday 4th of September 2019, Penny Authors had launched their fifth volume of their anthology, titled, V5 Book of Lived at the Redwing Gallery, off Market Jew Street, Penzance, West Cornwall.

The Launch was a success from many accounts as we had over twenty people attending and taking interests and enjoying the evening.

Jeremy & Lyla holding the V5 Book of lived with Civic, Cllr Tracey Halliday.

We were attended by Cllr Tracey Halliday, Civic Deputy, with her blue ribboned chain of office regalia. Her attendance was appreciated and the Penny Authors are grateful as this adds credibility along with recognition on many level.

"I had a lovely evening at the launch of the Penny Author's poetry anthology .

It was great to meet Mayar Akash who is the founder of this initiative which discovers aspiring writers who wouldn't be given the opportunity otherwise.

He shows real passion, enthusiasm and dedication to his writers through nurturing them in sometimes difficult times.

It was a delight to meet local resident Jeremy Lovelady who's artwork is featured on the cover of the current book and who exhibited many of his original art works which were very thought provoking.
As a Penzance Town Councillor and Vice chair of the Social Action Fund sub Committee, I'm hopeful that we can help fund some future ventures and work with Mayar Akash and the community in Penzance."

"The literature and materials on display at the launch were lively and helped create a welcoming atmosphere. The foundations were laid for future such events. Having people read their poems was a good idea, but some people will always be shy and the organiser read their work on their behalf, so their voices were heard , which is so important, especially for those not used to a listening ear. All in all this venture seems very positive for the community."
Ruth Lewarne

We didn't forget Penny Authors that couldn't attend and from the past issues, we had you guys covered, you were our centre piece.

You were first in line and the last item to see. (All 25 Penny Authors name are printed out and displayed on blank/white canvas, you can see on the bottom left corner of the picture).

I was very chuffed to have received this many guest as I have not been in Penzance long enough to get acquainted with many people and this was another success. According to Jeremy Schanchev his event had 6 people respect to him for attending ours.

This Penny Authors book launch was not your normal "run off the mill" event, it incorporated individual authors artwork to support and showcase their work along with the anthology they are in. This was the first time the Redwing Gallery had such an event, a book launch with artwork, two in one.

Jeremy Lovelady with many life challenges is a local artist who draws and one of his work became the cover of the 5th anthology. This was a way to incorporate him to the writers project and thus, his painting and drawing exhibited at the launch. This also gave me an opportunity to support him with my artwork, they were in the periphery of the set up.

"Extremely well done, for your first book launch/poetry evening, very well presented, an interesting mixture of local artists, featuring books, poems, paintings alike, a good turnout by local people coming from as far as Sennen and Falmouth, in all it was a delightful and successful event, well done Mayar, looking forward to reading your future publications from the Penny Authors group"

Julie Ann Wheeler

John Festle also was invited by Roselyne, John is a journalist for an on-line social media platform. He took our recording and was impressed to the point he then later purchased a copy before leaving. We look forward to his coverage and reporting this on the social media platform.

"This was my first attendance to such an event and I didn't really know what to expect. I believe it went well. People who attended were very receptive"
Leo Tadebois

John Thomas a local writer and singer offered to record our poetry reading on his equipment that he brought along on his own accord. I was very chuffed and accepted his offer, many thank yous to John and we look forward to the end product.

"I thought the launch was successful. I also feel it bodes well for the local arts scene in Penzance and environs especially after hearing such optimism from Penzance Town Council. I thank you Mayar for your hospitality at the function and look forward to reading the book.  Well done!"
John Thomas

Ruth & I read from the book from the book, Ruth got the claps and I left the audience stunned (I think), after I finish there is silence, [lol] this is the third time this happened, after all three reading, silence followed; so not sure if my work is good or not… I leave that to the people to let me know in their own time.

Alison Bray a local artist enquired if Penny Authors was going to become a poetry group holding regular sessions and she expressed a need do some work in the area of poets reading their work in public, for coach, building confidence in elocution.

Tracey has made known to the group that there are fundings possible in the social aspects of the project, in the above coach and also the mental welling aspect of the initiative.

Penny Authors Successes

The success stories to date, four of the Penny authors have gone to produce and publish their first solo books.

Zainab Khan family supported her in publishing her own poetry book titled after her poem. "The Halloween Poem".

Liam Newton through the "Writers Champion went on to publish poetry book titled after his rap song, the "Delirious".

Rashma Mehta also through the "Writers Champion" published her first solo book. She was so happy of her aspiration attainment, she went on to Publish her second book through MAPublisher at a favourable costs to suit her budget. Rashma is currently working on her third book.

Bhupendra M. Ghandi has also had his work published in the Penny Authors anthology and then went on to publish his "Cry For Help" poetry book through MAPublisher. He is not new to publishing and has published with other publishers. The uniqueness offered to him is that we will help him to promote his other books by including the images on the back cover. He was charged for this service, which was only too glad.  He needed to bring all his books under one place to promote and the cost was affordable and competitive.

Ruth Lewarne also entered the gateway through Penny Authors and benefited from our service. She went on to publish her solo book "Lit from within". She has previously published an eBook. She now has three books

Mayar Akash also has produced and published three book to date.

(Also click the books and it will take you to its webpage)

The difficult part of all published book is the promotion of it, MAP books have a roll on non contractual promotion at MAPublisher's discretion without costs to the author, this is the unique and bespoke aspect.

The promotion also facilitates traffic to the pages, sites, this is the indirect benefit to the writer becoming part of the Penny Authors Anthologies; free of costs, discretionary. This is to support the co-operative aspect of Penny Authors, everyone support each other by promoting the title in their own platforms.

All aspiring writer coming in with Penny Authors are walked through the processes to enter the gateway of getting their work published.
